PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To ensure high quality pasta production through effective control of production processes and supervision of staff.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Control Production start-ups and stoppings: Flour system, water system, air compressor, chiller, and boiler, auxiliaries, preparing dies and dough, pre-heating and start-up of all pasta production lines with the correct recipes.
• Ensure production targets are achieved as per laid down quality standards.
• Ensure that products adhere to all quality & product requirements.
• Assist operator when necessary to start up and set up all packaging and bundling machines, identify and sort out packaging and bundling machine problems.
• Assist operator when necessary to check that the correct packaging material is used, best before dates on packets/bags, retention samples and check weights.
• Assist operator when necessary to start up and set up packet date printers, identify and sort out problems with date printers as well.
• Ensure unprinted bags, sellotape, sewing thread, printing foil, pallets, cleaning agents and administrative accessories are ordered timeously.
• Supervise and ensure cleaning is done as per schedule for the flour transfer plant, Pasta plant, regrind plant and packaging material stores in accordance with set standards.
• Ensure minor faults and breakdowns are reported timeously to Workshop.
• Ensure the production process is monitored in relations with production, quality and procedures.
• Ensure adherence to safety and hygiene standards for employees and visitors.
• Manage complete process from raw material throughout production and packaging.
• Ensure efficient waste control (Dough, pasta and packaging material).
• Ensure proper planning is done according to orders to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Quick and efficient reaction and correction of any alarms and stoppages.
• Immediately report production and packaging delays to Production Manager.
• Stand in as leave substitute whenever required by colleagues.
• Ensure staff complies with disciplinary code, company procedures, dress code and hygiene.
• Assist Senior Pasta Maker and Manufacturing Team Leader in delegating duties.
• Ensure staff is performing required duties in accordance with company requirements and safety standards.
• Ensure accurate monthly stock take.
• Assist Senior Pasta maker with training of LPM, Technical Controller, Controllers, Operators and General Labourers.
• Maintain and record ISO 9001, HACCP and FSSC 22000 procedures, reports and quality standards.
• Review production line recipes and updates in collaboration with Production Manager and Senior Pasta Maker.
• Carry out tasks given by Senior Pasta Maker, Manufacturing Team Leader and more superior staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
• Relevant Diploma (NQF 6) with 1 year as an Assistant Pasta Maker or Technical Controller
OR
• Relevant Certificate (NQF 5) with 3 years as an Assistant Pasta Maker or Technical Controller
OR
• Grade 12 (NQF 4) with 5 years’ experience as an Assistant Pasta Maker or Technical Controller
OTHER
• Computer Literate
• Completion of In- House training
• Driver’s license (code B)
• Forklift Driver’s License
• Namibian citizen
• First Aid Certificate
• Fire Fighting Certificate
• Pesticide Application Certificate (Optional)
• Working knowledge of Windows based office systems such as Excel, Word and Outlook
• Proficient in English, being bilingual will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, HACCP and FSSC 22000
• Must be able to work shifts, weekends, overtime and public holidays
